The Focus on Matric program is an intensive study and tutoring program for all grade 12 students at Khathi High School. Students are required to pass this exam in order to officially graduate from high school and without a passing grade, students are often destined to a life of unskilled labor.
Focus on Matric runs for 2 hours after school everyday and the students are offered teaching and tutoring that helps them to really understand the material. Thanda After-School has study guides and teaching materials that are not usually available to students at this high school- there are currently not even enough textbooks for each student. Last year, 16 out of 80 grade 12 students passed their matric exam at Khathi High School. This year we are hoping to see a dramatic improvement!
